Ultrasound technologies are used for accessing the health of the unborn babies, for diagnosing the cardiovascular abnormalities, nervous system disorders, abdominal conditions and many more. Most of the ultrasound technician work in the clinics and hospitals. The ultrasound technicians are highly paid and they stand in a responsible position in the society and are a very interesting job. Ultrasound technicians are also called as the sonographers and they use the sound wave equipments that are specialized for creating the images of several internal organs and they include eyes, brain, abdomen, breast, for purpose of the medical treatment and medical diagnosis.  The ultrasound technician must complete the formal training programs; the individuals can complete the certification program by earning the bachelor's degree and an associate degree. Ultrasound technicians are in high demand throughout the country.

Associate Degrees:

                        Most of the employers require the ultrasound technician to hold the 2 year associate degree in the field of ultrasound technology or the diagnostic medical sonography.  More than 150 ultrasound technician training programs are accredited by Bureau of Labor Statistic.  Students are generally instructed in medical terminology, ethics, color flow Doppler ultrasound technology, gray scale technology, instrumentation, ultrasound physics, patient care, physiology and anatomy. The student undergoing the ultrasound technology course is required to have hands on experience in the practical session by supervising the patient care.

Physical Requirements:

                        It is must for the ultrasound technicians to have the physical fitness certificate, as the technicians have to stand for a long time and must perform repetitive movements with transducers. During the procedure the ultrasound technicians will do certain lifting and moving works in order to reposition the patients.   

Must Be Registered:

                        Most of the employers need the ultrasound technicians to get registered by ARDMS. It is a requirement for the ultrasound technician. The students must pass the written exam conducted by the team.    

Certification Programs:

                        In the case of ultrasound technology the individuals who are working in the healthcare professional can complete the one year certification course to learn the concepts involved in ultrasound technology and to become a technician.

Ultrasound Courses:

                        The ultrasound courses generally include the clinical procedures, the physics of ultrasound and the ultrasound equipment operations. Clinical internships are required for the ultrasound technician degree course.

General Course Work:

                        The requirements of the general course works in the ultrasound technology include patient evaluation, patient care, physiology, anatomy, physics and medical terminology.
